I’m aiming for 100 rejections in 2017. I already have five, so if I need to move the target up to 200 or even 3000, well, I will. And I vow to market my poems in a thoughtful way. I won’t deliberately select elite publications just to inflate my numbers. Nor will I deliberately misread submission guidelines in order to have my poems automatically rejected. Nor will I send out poems that I know are substandard.
95 more to go.
My second resolution is to create a sufficient body of work so that I will have 30 poems being considered by editors at once.
Write, revise, submit. And learn.
My third resolution is to get out to find the poetry in life.
